Safari Details
Day 1: Journey to Bwindi
Your adventure begins early in the morning from Kampala or Entebbe.
As you leave the city behind, the road winds through fertile farmland, tea plantations, and small towns buzzing with daily life. A quick stop at the Equator gives you a fun photo opportunity and a chance to stretch before continuing west.
Lunch iin Mbarara, then the journey presses on, with the landscape shifting into terraced hills and cool highland weather. By evening, you be in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Bwindi's misty canopy and rich birdcalls will welcome you and properly set the stage for tomorrow’s gorilla encounter. Settle into your lodge, savor dinner, and sleep to the old sounds of the forest.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
Wake early and go to the park offices for a briefing about gorilla tracking.
After the briefing, you're off into Bwindi’s thick forest in search of mountain gorillas. The hike goes through thick forest trails and steep slopes and may take 3-8 hours depending on where the troop is, so be ready.
When you find the gorillas, every second counts: observing their behaviour, the way they move, feed, groom, the way they look back at you - straight in the eyes, as if they have always known that we are related. You will have one hour with them. In that hour, you can ask questions, take pictures, slows follow them about, as well as simply become present with the gorillas.
Return to lodge. Evening is for reflection, maybe swapping stories by the fire.
Day 3: Return to Kampala
After breakfast, begin your drive back toward Kampala. It’s a long drive – about 10 hours – but the changing scenery eases the miles: countryside, hills, livelihoods, local life.
The scenery rolls by in reverse: misty mountains fading into open plains, villages and roadside markets adding color to the journey. Lunch is served en route in Mbarara before the final stretch.
By evening you’re back in Kampala or Entebbe, dropped at your hotel or airport. Three days might have flown quickly, but the memory of standing with gorillas will stay with you for a lifetime.
