8-Days Wildlife Safari

This eight-day journey delivers some of Uganda’s most spectacular wildlife moments - giant waterfalls, dense rainforests, hippo-filled waterways, and serene walking safaris.

You’ll explore Murchison Falls, meet chimpanzees in Kibale, cruise the Kazinga Channel, and walk among free-roaming zebras and antelopes at Lake Mburo. It’s made for travellers who want diversity in nature & wildlife experiences, but also time to soak up Uganda’s landscapes without being rushed.

If you love wildlife, big views, and authentic safari rhythm (drive, explore, relax), this itinerary gives you a balanced mix of action + downtime.

Safari Details

Day 1: Journey North & Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Your safari kicks off early in Kampala. Drive north toward Murchison Falls, but first stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where you walk among rhinos in open grassland, guided by expert trackers.

After that incredible experience, head into Murchison Falls National Park. As evening falls, check into your lodge, relax, and let the anticipation build for what lies ahead.

Day 2: Game Drive & Boat Cruise at Murchison

Start your day at first light with a game drive. You will get to see many animals especial elephants, giraffes, lions, buffaloes, and maybe leopards - this is when animals are most active.

After lunch, swap the land for water: head out on a boat cruise along the Nile toward the bottom of the falls. Feel the power of water squeezing through the rocky gorge - roaring as it plunges 40 meters. Throughout the whole experience, you will be surrounded by dramatic views, hippos, crocodiles, and birds dancing on riverbanks.

Spend the evening quietly at the lodge to absorb the events of the day.

Day 3: Travel to Kibale Forest

After a hearty breakfast, leave Murchison Falls NP and journey toward Kibale Forest. The drive will take you through Ugandan countryside where a changing tapestry of villages, farms, small towns and life can be witnessed.

We'll stop over in Hoima for lunch. Your lodging in Kibale gives you rest as you prepare for primate encounters ahead.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking & Bigodi Swamp Walk

Arise with the excitement of someone going to see chimps. At the park offices, you will meet your ranger guide and enter Kibale’s ancient hardwood forest to search for chimpanzees.

The forest is alive with sounds: monkeys calling, birds overhead, dappled light through giant trees. When you get to the chimps, you will observe and follow them for around 1 hour.

After lunch, head to Bigodi Swamp. Wander amidst reeds and water channels. Birdsong, shaded trails, unexpected wildlife – this is peace, nature at its subtle best. Evening at lodge, relax.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth and the Kazinga Cruise

Enjoy your breakfast, and then leave Kibale on a short road trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Once there, settle in, then take a boat ride along the Kazinga Channel. Hippos wallow in the water, crocodiles bask on banks, fish splash, birds wheel in the sky and elephants enjoy a drink of water, or splash. You’ll feel close to life in its raw, beautiful form.

Evening at Mweya Lodge, enjoying views and perhaps a dramatic sunset.

Day 6: Safari in Queen Elizabeth

This is a full day of exploring the park for wildlife - common and sneaky. We'll start with an early morning game drive to look for lions, hogs, elephants, leopards, hyenas, antelopes and much more. The morning is especially ideal for predators since most hunt in the night.

The multiple ecosystems of Queen Elizabeth National Park - grassy plains, forests and swamps, make every part of the park special. With a full day, you might choose to revisit the Kazinga channel for another boat cruise, or go to remote parts of the park that are less explored.

Evening under star studded night sky.

Day 7: Transfer to Lake Mburo

After breakfast, leave Queen Elizabeth behind and head toward Lake Mburo National Park.

You’ll drive through countryside: banana plantations, cattle-farms, village towns and arrive by noon. In the afternoon - having had your lunch, take a boat ride on Lake Mburo for hippos, crocodiles, birdlife.

Later, relax at lodge near the lake, listening to nighttime sounds of the wilderness.

Day 8: Walking Safari & Return to Kampala

Your final day begins on foot. Lake Mburo offers a great walking safari experience, due to the fact that there are no large carnivores in this park.

You’ll encounter zebras, impalas, elands grazing quietly as well as birds common and unique to the region.

After the safari walk, begin the drive back to Kampala. Arrive in evening - drop-off at hotel or airport. This will mark the end of your safari.

You leave with sightings, stories, wildlife, landscapes - and a safari woven into your heart.
