Top Things to Do

Rwenzori trekking is the park’s main draw.

- Kilembe Trail: 6 - 8 days via Mount Baker, Speke, and Stanley.
Both routes lead adventurous climbers to Margherita Peak, Africa’s third-highest summit.
2. Short Hikes & Nature Walks
For lighter exploration, take day walks from Nyakalengija or Kilembe, exploring waterfalls, foothill forests, and local farms.
3. Birding
Home to several Albertine Rift endemics, the Rwenzoris are a birder’s delight. Look for the Rwenzori Turaco, Golden-winged Sunbird, and Malachite Sunbird.
4. Cultural Encounters
Meet the Bakonzo and Bamba communities who have lived along the mountain foothills for generations. Village walks and traditional performances give you a glimpse of their mountain life and crafts.
