Semuliki National Park is one of Uganda's first protected areas created in 1932 as a forest reserve. It is the only tract of true lowland tropical forest in East Africa.
Semuliki is well known for its incredible ecosystem which is a mix of East African and Central African forest wildernesses. It is an extension of the great Ituri forest from the neighbouring DRC.
Semuliki National park is home to more than 120 mammals including several primates as well as forest elephants, and more than 300 bird species.

Getting to Semuliki
Semuliki National Park is located around 300 kilometres west of Kampala, Uganda's capital city. The park can be reached by both road and air.
By road, driving from Kampala to Semuliki takes around 4 hours. You can also fly to Semuliki via chartered domestic flights from Kampala or other Ugandan National parks.
